6 Methods you Can Try to Improve Site Conversions

on February 28, 2014by DoMyLLCin Marketing

Improving site conversions is one of the most important things for your business.

You may have a significant amount of traffic, but if enough of them aren’t being converted to customers, you don’t have what’s needed on your website. There is a variety of methods that you can try in order to make some site conversions improvements to your website.

1. Understand your Visitors

A Phone Screen with Search Results for Google AnalyticsThe first method that you need to try for is to understand your visitors. By doing this, you will know how to give them what they want. Put yourself in their shoes for a few minutes. You already know who you are targeting, so think about what they are interested in – and then make some changes to your site. You don’t want boring or confusing content because it won’t provide you with the site conversions necessary to gain service.

2. Use a Website Heat map

Think of this as an infrared map to see where the action is on your site. This will provide you with the areas that are “hot” so you know which ones are being clicked on and seen with the most frequency. You may be overlooking some of the most critical elements and by using the heat maps, you will be able to figure out where you need to spend more time. This is ultimately the tool you want to use to be sure you have a great looking landing page.

You can continue to use the heat maps to determine what is working for you and what isn’t until you get to a point where your entire landing page is hot. This is just one of the ways that you can test your functions. A/B Testing or Multivariate Testing can also provide you with insight as to what works over something else.

3. Use Quality Images

You have to provide a quality experience for your site visitors. The last thing you want to do is use stock photos because it isn’t personalized. People want to see what’s unique about your business and when you use images that everyone else is using, it doesn’t help your case. People can tell the difference, so you would be better off taking a camera around your warehouse and snapping some of your own photos.

In addition to images, you can also use videos. The goal of images and videos is to keep people interested in what you are offering and these can be a great way to tell people a little more about what you have and why they need it.

4. Change the Color of Your Call to Action

Is your call to action getting lost in the mayhem of your landing page? Make sure it stands out by increasing the font size and even changing the color. This will ensure that people know what they are supposed to do once they get to your site.

5. Ask for Feedback

When you want to know why people are or are not using your website, start to get feedback. You can put this right on your website for people to respond or you can send out a message on Facebook for all of your friends to check out the site. Remember that your Facebook friends are consumers and they may be able to provide you with a significant amount of insight as to what they like and what they feel needs to change.

Be sure to be open to the feedback that you receive and incorporate some of the ideas into your website.

6. Use a Mascot

Using a mascot may be what you need to help improve your brand and make you more relatable. There are a lot of successful companies that have used mascots and you can probably think of a few without thinking too hard. This includes the gecko of Geico, the monkey of MailChimp, and the tiger of Frosted Flakes.
